IMAGINARY FRIENDS
In her final few years of school, 17 year old Amy Downham attempts to rebuild her social circle two years after it collapses around her. However, standing in her way is Victoria, the girlfriend of her old best friend Eli, and her bitter jealousy of any interaction they have. An uncontrollable insecurity about her own relationship means she'll go to any lengths to stop those two becoming close again.
But now, Elijah and Amy are forced to spend time together because they've been cast in the school play. Yes, the same one that's written and directed by the no-nonsense, bohemian head of Drama... Amy's mother.
However, there is still someone who will be standing by her through all this. The only person she can turn to for support and advice. Her best friend, An.
An Xiety.
Imaginary Friends explores the development and dealing-with of mental health problems in the life of one young person. It examines how these issues can impact not only the sufferer but the people around them, questioning if today's society copes with mental health stigma well enough, if it even copes with it at all.
