New Writer's Festival Applications

Pitch: 6.30PM Wednesday 22nd January 2020
Festival Dates: 28 Jan - 1st Feb 2020

we are welcoming our New Writer's this 2020!
Back to what we do best...another festival! However, this time we are encouraging NEW WRITERS to take to the stage and pitch a play you have written. We are primarily seeking to find new writers for this festival, with no experience within the company. However, you can apply even if you have had experience, but please do be aware new comers may take more votes.

We also want to encourage writers who may not want to direct, as we have plenty of directors who do not write who would be thrilled to take on someone else's work. There is honestly scope for you to do whatever you want with your pieces and transfer your thoughts into a reality.

This Festival is a great opportunity to make that step and produce work you may have kept hidden and left alone, but why not give it a go and see what can be made? It will honestly be so rewarding to see something you have written come to life, and its a great opportunity to start your career as a possible writer.

We would like to advise that no show proposed is longer than 1 hour 15 mins (as a maximum) and people must be prepared to cut it down if necessary. We need to know all the details about your pitch, so what it is about, the duration and the cast size for the piece. Come prepared with scripts that are written, or at least near completion!

Be prepared for questions after your pitch, from the committee and audience! We politely ask everyone to be respectful of others and to ask appropriate questions. We ask pitchers to arrive promptly at 6.15pm on the 22nd January, in order to allow preparation time before the pitches commence.

HOW DO I PITCH?

Fill in the form below telling us all about your show! You'll present a five minute pitch to our members on the 15th October 2019 at 6.30PM and they will vote for their favourites. Ensure your pitch is memorable and descriptive, as this will allow the audience to get a thorough understanding of what you want to achieve. The show with the most votes will be our Winter Musical! Please remember to send an image to accompany your pitch to company@qmtc.co.uk

Attached below is the QMTC pitch guide which you can download and browse in order to gain full information on how pitches work and what to expect as a pitcher. We recommend you saving the file to your devices so you can refer back to the guide whenever you need.
