‘Thirst’ is a frantic satirical comedy inspired by the 1904 St. Louis Olympic marathon, where the chief organiser, James Edward Sullivan, decreed that the runners would be only allowed one water stop, to test the effects of severe dehydration. Which not surprisingly resulted in many casualties and the slowest ever completion time of any marathon.
